Save Kannada and the Microsoft Connection

What is the connection between Kannada language, literature and Microsoft? The reports are that Microsoft has submitted a letter of intent to the Government of Karnataka (well, do we have one) to establish paperless offices. The opposers say that it is riddled with errors. They have started a Save Kannada Campaign. Is it save Kannada? Does Kannada need saving or is there an ulterior motive in just ensuring Microsoft doesnt do this project? The site itself seems riddled with contradictions

My question is, we have so many companies and agencies in India offering software solutions worldwide, cant we do what Microsoft has proposed to do?

As usual, the "kannadigas" are confused with their target. Taking it against Microsoft is only to be in the limelight and news.

If kannada should be saved, it should be spoken with correct accent, correct grammar, correct usage at all levels by everyone. While english has taken over, over every Indian language, the identity of entire India to the outside world is only Hindi (someone had asked me if I speak 'Hindu') or English, we need to do a lot to even have a recognition of Kannada within India itself.

Unlike tamil or malayalam, kannada lacks words for many items. We dont have kannada words for Coffee, ScrewDriver, Car, Motor Bike and so on... No one ever cared to create for them.

Its only on a Kannada Rajyothsava (some cant even pronounce Rajyothsava...its said as Rajyosthava!) that "kannadigas" wake up to missings in the language.

Today, kannada cinema is almost dead. If they are not copying frame to frame, note to note from a tamil , malayalam, hindi or telugu movies, their movies have been failing utterly. No money to make next movie. Industry has no regards for the language. If they did, they would have respected the sea of kannada literateurs and continued to develop their generations. They are talked about only on Kannada Raajyotsava day. What class of people are involved with it? I dont really have to explain there.

Microsoft will not Kill Kannada. It is the very Kannadigas who will kill the language for lack of attention.

I am not a kannadiga. But I feel what Suchin told is right. No Company, even Microsoft cannot destroy Kannada or any other language. One language can get extinguished only by itself.

Going global I shall say no entity can't withstand the Principle "Survival of the Fittest". Kannada or any other language should grow more powerful if it wants to survive.
